Cass didn't try to hide his pleasure. His pulse sped up taking in the sparkling midnight dress that hit her mid thigh and clung to every luscious curve, "You're looking..." (hot, mouth-watering, drop-dead beautiful—untouchable) "smashing, sheila."

Cass watched her chin rise, her shoulders straighten. The gauntlet she'd flung down at his feet; he’d been waiting for it—craved it.

Elektra Charpentier was the toughest, most frustrating, most alluring woman he'd ever known, and he loved her with a passion that rivaled her obsession for her precious opals. She was like Meth, and like any addiction, when the substance wasn’t available, the withdrawal was hell.

That's where he’d been for the last eleven odd months—in Hell. He'd let her down, and she'd broken his heart. Sent him away and like a wuss, he'd stayed away, hit the turps, licked his wounds. But now, he intended to win her back, and he had the perfect bait.
