Those who die with their brain intact join the ranks of the cannibalistic walking dead. The military, out of position due to a three front war, holds desperately against the tide of dead flesh. Police officers, caught by surprise, just struggle to survive. The government reels from one disaster to the next, and the population of the whole world is soon engaged in a fight just for survival.

Rebecca Starling is a young college student, a pacifist, caught in the middle of a nightmare of horror, trying desperately to hold onto what she once was, but when it’s New Year’s Day, does she have any hope of holding onto her pre-Rising ethics and morals, much less her own life?
