I read this on a whim after trawling through titles on smashwords looking for something different . I was getting tired of dragons and the underdog wizard defeating all odds etc etc.....fancied something present day with a twist and got it with bells on. Not too out there, but just enough to keep you hooked and leave you wanting more. Donovan is the ultimate bad boy that you know your mother wouldn't want you to love , but you do anyway, even though you know you can't tame him.the comedy is subtle but makes you laugh anyway , awkward when there's a film on and your reading on the sly . Can't wait to keep reading the series thanks John

I put the book down after the first few pages and told my husband I wasn't sure I could read it...heartbreaking and scary. Next day I realized I had to know where it went. NOW I have to get the series, lol. More emotional yanking, ACTION, laughter, intrigue...read it straight through that time and then I re-read it. (Seriously!)
Thank you, John, for bringing Donovan Creed to life! (Just don't forget Mr. Love? )

Wow, I love John Locke (well, you know what I really mean) - I bought all seven (after you try the first one you cannot stop)Donovan Creed books and read them nonestop! Fast, witty and sexy! Love the humour - I laughed out loud many times!
John - please, please write some more!! You have bumped off Nelson DeMille as my favourite author!

John Locke's character of Donovan Creed is fascinating and makes for compelling reading. The moment you finish one book you can't wait to start the next one.

Donovan Creed is an amiable fellow and a borderline sociopath. He is smart; he is strong; he is very tough; there isn’t much he won’t do. What is a man like that to do? Commando and spy come to mind. But, the former is too restrictive and the latter too introspective for Donovan. So, he became an assassin -- killing for the government and for hire. The story is fast and the writing is witty. There are laugh out loud moments mixed in with action, surprises, and sex -- not to mention some very offbeat characters. Looks like I have found a new GotToReadThemAll writer.
