The Silent Treatment is completely captivating and is a book you just can not put down. The story follows Kat Shergill, a smart young lady facing the normal ebb and flow of life when a chance encounter engulfs her into a mystery that she is compelled to solve. Each character pulls you in and is so perfectly written that it is as if you have known them forever. Predominantly a story of mystery and suspense, the inner conflicts, historical attributes, and a touch of romance blend together to form a perfectly crafted tale. This well written novel is poised to be the first in an amazing series of adventures for Kat Shergill, penned by this talented new author, Melanie Surani.

The characters were very believable, and their actions were strong.I will definately look for more novels written by this author. If you enjoy reading mystery suspense thrillers...this book is for you.

If you like mystery stories that could easily happen to anyone, THE SILENT TREATMENT by Melanie Surani will appeal very strongly. But there's a lot more to this book than its apparently simple narrative style and intriguing
central puzzle. In observing Kat Shergill's adventures, the author delicately explores the long-term, often subtle, impact of abuse, not only on the abused but also on their families and friends. It's very easy to empathise with the likeable Kat and I found myself cheering her on to the
satisfying conclusion, but be warned. You're likely to be thinking about Kat's predicament long after you've finished reading, because the threat and damage from abuse never completely end. It takes a lifetime of courage
and determination to overcome them.

I hope this is only the start of Melanie Surani's exploration of Kat Shergill, otherwise I'm going to keep wondering if she's okay.
