George Strother Gaines

George Strother Gaines was a well trusted and honored man among the Native Americans and whites in south Alabama in the early 1800s. Gaines was instrumental in the history of south Alabama among the inhabitants of the lower Tombigbee area. This is his story.

I have been a minister in the United Methodist Church since 1994. I served on the Choctaw Co. Local Emergency Planning committee.I was on the Pennington VFD for 8 plus years and the Choctaw Co. Hazardous Response Team for 3 years.In college (University of West Alabama) I majored in history and sociology.I have developed and implemented disaster response plans to hurricanes, oil spills, etc. I have served nineteen different United Methodist churches thus far, which has enabled me to obtain a well-rounded knowledge of church administration experience. In 2014 I graduated from Asbury Theological Seminary with an M.Div. Currently, I am working on a Ph.D program for Christian Counseling.
