Extended description

Christina Desroches is in extreme danger. Her mentor has just been murdered, and the young doctoral student begins to believe that the unique text she is translating for her research, a medieval work that warns strongly against translation, was part of the motive.

As Christina's research takes her from New York to Paris to the Tarn River Valley, she is pursued by an unknown foe who evidently will stop at nothing to pierce the text’s secrets and who somehow believes that Christina holds the key to interpretation. But how could information hidden within a centuries-old text possibly have value in modern times? Christina must find out, as it is becoming increasingly obvious that part of this mystery may literally be in her blood.

Christina learns that a large water company has bought the miraculous fountain that cured the princess in the text of leprosy and plans to drain it. Is this coincidence or something else? Does the text hold clues to an alchemy that could bring about a cur.. (Read more)
