The story portrays a fictitious conflict between conventional family values and trappings of stardom.It is an exploration of the life of film stars--from the sedate yet raring-to-go eighties to the hip and happening of today.The real Cosmocrat plays an important part in their spiritual and creative growth;while the ersatz cosmocrat(read press)is the confrontational player in their public life.
Prodyut struggled hard to become a big movie star.He was ably supported by his wife Amiya and his friend Riddhiman.While on this journey,Prodyut fell in love with his heroine Monimala.Monimala was forced into acting by her husband when he lost his wealth due to his vices.Monimala and Prodyut camouflaged their affair with their professionalism.But due to a one-night of Atul's drunken orgy ,Monimala became pregnant.Then started her conflicts and qualms.Her son Shankajeet was born and she broke off her relationship with Prodyut.Prodyut engaged himself in his film complex.Years later he made a Hindi film with Shankajeet.The film was a hit.The media was flooded with the rumour that Shankajeet might be Prodyut's son.Prodyut and Monimala decided to call a joint press conference.The separate flashbacks of the protagonists unfold the plot.
