About JD McDonnell

I have been writing stories on and off since I was a teenager, always with one foot in the realm of serious and another in the realm of cheap pop fantasy/sci-fi/horror - which, of course, is probably how I ended up with a firm footing in neither.

I believe in a balance of craftsmanship and wild entertainment. I write what I like, and I like to think that I do a good job in doing so.

Enjoy the words.

I really enjoyed this book. It started out a bit different then I expected but grabbed my interest from the beginning. The author did a wonderful job of weaving his characters into the story. Before I knew it, I was wrapped up in the story and carried along as the characters discovered things that in todays world we take for granted. I loved how the author described those situations and my mind was having ah ha moments as I read them. If you enjoy books like Clan Of The Cave Bear, you will enjoy The Celtic Shelf. The time frame is a bit later then Clan Of The Cave Bear but just as well written. I highly recommend this book and can't wait for the author to continue the series! I hope we don't have to wait 20 years like Jean M. Auel made us wait!
