James Cessford was head curator and librarian at the members only "Chapelkill Taxidermy Museum" on the edge of the North York Moors. The collection boasted some of Western Europe's finest examples of rogue taxidermy including jackalopes, griffins and mermaids; as well as a selection of the most exquisite anthropomorphic tableaus the Edwardian secret societies ever rendered.
Ongoing inquiries into the localized outbreak of a degenerative tropical lupus traced back to one of the museum's privately procured chimeras, have unfortunately forced the institute's director, Alfred Catch Esq, to temporarily seal shut the doors. It is hoped that access to the collection will be restored again some time in the spring.
Between sourcing and cataloguing acquisitions, James has recently completed his first collection of stories, The Monkey Puzzle, from which The Carousel is taken.
