This was, quite simply, a great book. I was a librarian for 22 years, and I would not hesitate to recommend this book to anyone over 10 years old.

This is one of the most enjoyable books I've ever read. The story is original and interesting, not to mention positively hilarious in its portrayal of the awkward teenage hero. It's not like anything I've ever read before, and it is something that I am enjoying reading a second time.

We listened to this book as a family on our last car trip to California. We loved it. We never saw the kids more excited to get back in the car after a rest stop and listen to the next chapter. Even months afterwords we still find ourselves quoting Billy or smiling at the memory of one of his adventures. We can't wait to read the sequel and find out what comes next.

I wanted to come up with an uber-witty thing to say about how great Billy: Messenger of Powers was, but the more I tried the more I kept coming up with cliches. 'A roller-coaster ride!' 'A rollicking good time!' 'A fast-paced whirlwind of a plot!' But while true, none of these captured how uniquely interesting Billy’s world is, the complexity of the magic system, and the fascinating characters. So I’m going to say this: Read this book. I loved it. So will you.

While there were a few problems I had with the story (it's a bit dark at times), I'm giving this 5 out of 5 because of its originality. It was a totally new twist on an old legend (which I won't reveal here... spoiler). And cannot wait for the sequel.

Wow... just, wow. It blew me away. I was totally not expecting much, but am completely happy. I've read it twice now, diving back in for number three. It's NOT HP, it's NOT Twilight. Totally different, but very very kewl.

AMAZING! Astounding! Remarkable! Marvelous! Surprising! Incredible!
I truly wish there was a better word in the dictionary that could possibly provide an accurate description of this book! Billy is amazing, lovable, geeky, sweet…again, not enough words!
The story itself is entertaining, enjoyable, funny, has great characters and settings, an amazing story line that keeps you wanting more, not to mention the vivid imagination that created such a world of Powers!
The only problem with the book is that by the end YOU WANT MORE!!! I want the next installment NOW!!!
Other than that, I give it 10 stars, two thumbs WAY up (and big toes too for that matter)!
Listen, read, and enjoy!
Mr. Collings is BRILLIANT!

I'd recommend this book to anyone, young or old. Filled with humor and adventure, Billy Jones keeps you entertained throughout. I usually don't like fantasy stories, but this one I fully enjoyed, so I don't think you need to be a fantasy lover to appreciate Billy Jones. There's also a wonderfully narrated audio version for those who don't have time to read (or who love the book and want to enjoy it in another aspect).

The world of Billy: Messenger of Powers is richly crafted, with characters you can relate to and care about. The interplay between the characters is delightful, and at times laugh out loud funny. Though there are plenty of moments of humor, there are also portions of the book that will evoke suspense, sympathy, and may well bring you to tears. This epic tale brings a culmination of things that are "real," and things that are not, and though not obvious at first (in spite of the subtle clues throughout) ties into a well known and loved legend of years gone by. The audio version, and now the e-version may well be one of the best-kept secrets on the web, but not for long. Jump on the bandwagon now, and when the masses finally catch on, you'll be able to say "Yeah. But I knew about it "back when..."

When I saw the ad on Facebook I was a little wary. But after having read this book I have to say it was WORTH EVERY PENNY. I have kids who I am going to read this book to, and my wife has already started it (and so far loves it). There is a surprise ending that is perfect. Billy is the essence of nerdy cool: constantly in over his head, but always finding the way out. Also, any book that has magical creatures called "Kung Fu Cleaners" in it = awesome. It's that kind of little details that make this a page turner. That and the fact that the story is probably one of the top five I've ever read. Maybe top two. REALLY GOOD. 10 out of 10.

AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME. So many people say "The next Harry Potter." Blah. THis is BETTER than HP! I couldn't believe it (I LOVE HP), but it's true. Within a few chapters I was so engaged by this book that I didn't want to put it down. Billy is a great hero that is totally relatable: he's kind of an outcast, but tries his best to do what he has to. When he finds out that a) there are wizards all around him and b) he might be one of the most powerful of them (though he doesn't know how to control any powers he might have), he has to fight for the fate of the whole world. Highly recommend to anyone who likes HP, Fablehaven, or Eragon. Or anyone else. ;o)
