He had wandered off about ten minutes ago to poke around some of the stacks, but left all of his stuff – laptop, pens, and notepad – at his workspace, so he was obviously coming back. Casey wandered around, slowly returning the documents to storage, and tried to put him out of her mind. On her last trip to his desk, she glanced at the notes he’d written down.

“BE229.92” was scrawled in barely-legible handwriting and circled three times.

“A call number? Let’s see here,” Casey said under her breath, “that is in the back corner of floor four. I wonder...” She trailed off and began to fantasize again. Had he let this note here for her? Did Ramon want her to come find him? He’d certainly left in a big enough hurry, but no, that would be ridiculous. “What kind of porno movie set up is that? No way. But I do need to get him out of here. I’ll just go see if he’s there to let him know we’re closing.”

After finishing up a couple of things, she headed down to the fourth floor and started to hunt for Ramon. She felt him before she heard him. He put a shoulder gently on her hand, to make sure he didn’t startle her. “I can’t believe it worked,” she heard behind her as she turned into the furthest-back aisle. “You actually came!”

Turning around, Casey was greeted by Ramon brushing back a strand of hair that had fallen into her face and tracing the line of her jaw with the back of one of his fingers.
