Wolf Wood (Part Two) traces the lives of the Gascoigne and Perry families during the tumultuous years of the War of the Roses. The story follows the main historical events. The Gascoignes and Perrys are fictitious. Most other characters are real and I've done my best to portray them according to the historical record (which could, admittedly, be biased in favour of the winning side). Edward IV is one of my favourites. He was evidently a bit of a lad when it came to the ladies but there was far more to Edward than that. He was a good-natured fellow, a competent soldier and a conscientious ruler who was at pains to heal the scars of civil war. Circumstances brought Edward to the throne at the age of nineteen. The history of England would have been very different if he had not died at the comparatively young age of forty-two. Mike Dixon, Gold Coast, Australia, March 2012.
