Review by: Julie Napier on Jan. 28, 2014 :
"Bluegrass Undercover" was a cheerful, predictable read with some fun, quirky elements. Being from the Bluegrass, some of the descriptions really leapt off the pages for me (high school football games!), while others I kind of missed(horses?) The characters were developed mostly through their actions and dialogue and the greatest example of this was the dog and his bows. There were so many characters that were hard to differentiate in a short number of pages at one point. I felt as though the DEA agent and ex Ranger were soft caricatures of actual jobs but this worked to move the story along in its safe, predictable manner. The "baddies" were transparent, goofy and didn't really provide an element of danger that would add some conflict to the story.

The funniest parts, for me, were the references to outside works, like "Pride and Prejudice," and I enjoyed the wry humor this brought to the story.

All in all I like this author's voice and she seems like a delightful person who tells it like she sees it and writes accordingly.
