My hands gripped the edges of my hood lightly, pulling it off me in one swift motion. Everyone stared at first, knowing my face seemed familiar, but they were unable to put a finger on who it was. “Yes Brutus,” I opened my mouth to speak, “It's me.”
“Caesar?” Brutus ventured cautiously. The collective gasp of everyone around me would bring me the first of many rounds of satisfying revenge.
“It can’t be!”
“How is he here, this must be some kind of a trick?!”
“You can’t be Caesar, Caesar is dead!”
The wild murmurs of shock felt somewhat gratifying. I closed my eyes to savor the moment.
“Oh senators, but I am truly the mighty Caesar, and every single one of you will pay for your offences against his divine being!”
I found myself being knocked down to the ground as the lot of them rushed to the door in a flurry to escape. Ha! Short sighted fools! Pathetic politicians who only looked after their own well being! How disappointing, it was time to strike.
“Oh guards…” Mercenaries I hired on the fly emerged from the shadows and blocked the exit. Where were my guards when I needed them whilst I was still alive before? Paid off, missing, dead. Now, the exact opposite happening on their very being gave everybody a morbid sense of déjà vu.
