About Elise Marion

Elise Marion is a lover books and has a special place in her heart for sweet and sensual romance. Writing about love across all walks of life is her passion, as is reaching people through the written word. The Army wife and stay-at-home mother of two spends most of her time taking care of her children. Her second job includes writing stories about characters that people can fall in love with. When the Texas native isn't caring for her family or writing, you can usually find her with her nose in a book, singing loudly, or cooking up something new in the kitchen.

The Second Son picks up where the Third Son left off. To everyone’s surprise, Serge wakes from his year-long coma to find a different world then when he went unconscious.
Damien, the third son, is now king, and with the responsibility, not to mention Esmeralda, is no longer the rakish loose cannon that I loved so much in the first book, but a well-respected, honorable king.
Isabella lost the love of her life when Lionus died in the first book. She has spent the past year in mourning and sitting hours upon hours next to Serge’s bed. She is a gentle, pampered princess who has had her life planned out for her since her birth, and with the death of Lionus, she is unsure of what she should do, where she should go, and what her purpose is.
With her land, Barony, under attack from the rebels, it is decided that their people need their queen (Isabella), and she needs to take a king. After much deliberation, she picks Serge, who has loved her from a far his whole life. However, there story is not a happily ever after (yet) because Isabella still has feelings for Lionus, and carries guilt that she has taken on a king.
The author does a wonderful job with the book with bringing us into her world. She also does an excellent job with character creation, especially with the transformation of Isabella from a lost, docile princess, to a strong, competent warrior female. As for Serge, I found myself liking him more than I liked Damien, and I didn’t think that was going to be possible. His character was the perfect balance of “bad boy” and “serious king.”
I’m looking forward to continuing reading this series, so I’m on to the Lady Knights next!

This book was provided to me by the author for a fair and honest review. I was not compensated in any way.
