A fire rages in the Auschwitz concentration camp.

Prisoners have set the crematorium ablaze. They flee into the surrounding woods, yearning for freedom. They run, pursued by the hated soldiers and their wretched dogs. Desperate to escape the German boot that has lorded over them for years.

But not all will escape. Not all will taste freedom. Weak and ragged from the uprising that set the crematorium to flame, many prisoners fell behind. Fell beneath the sting of the German rifle and bite of the German Shepherd.
