Short description

Jim Anders is not your typical survivor. Without the luxury of only looking out for himself, he must also protect his wife and two young daughters from the rise of the Phoenix Virus, a genetically engineered supervirus. As the dead begin to rise, he quickly discovers that they are not the only threats in this new world as those who unleashed the virus continue their attack.

Extended description

Jim Anders is an average American, with an average life and an average family. Everything seems unremarkable. What he doesn't know is that he may hold the key to humanity's survival.

When the Phoenix virus is released, Jim is forced into a scenario where he must defend his wife, newborn daughter, and two year old while trying to escape the city as it burns. In a desperate attempt to make it to their Texas hideaway, the Anders' will see firsthand the full horror of the bioengineered weapon of mass destruction.

I really enjoyed this book. Being a person who mostly watches movies, I can usually predict how most stories unfold. This was not the case. The way that this was written, I was drawn in to the characters. Seeing the events unfold through the characters eyes, as if I WAS the character. At one point my wife came to me asking if I needed anything from the store. Not being able to snap back to reality fast enough, I told her she isn't going to go out in that chaos. Lol! J.P. Ayers has a way with words that really has the ability to put you in the moment.
