That's not how things played out for Caine, a nearly one thousand year old Pyte, who should have known better. Instead of walking away years ago, he has been watching over the only human who has touched his heart. He stays to protect her, at least that is what he tells himself. When trouble finds her, he knows that he should just cut his losses and walk away, but there is no fighting the hold the child, who has become a woman, has on him. Now they are both paying the price.

Danni knows that she isn’t technically a Sentinel and is putting her life in danger every time she goes out on patrol. She isn't worried, she has a job to do. It is the only thing that matters to her anymore and she isn’t going to let it go without a fight. Unfortunately for her, she didn’t foresee her ex-boyfriend selling her out to a Master, being captured, getting locked up and stuck in a room with the cranky Pyte. The same Pyte that broke her h.. I simply love this series, it is well written and the story enchants you from beginning to end. It reminds me of the novels written by Kristen Ashley. It doesn't matter what this author writes, it's ALWAYS worth buying.

Loved this book! I enjoyed learning about the history between Caine and Danni. He evolved from a cold, emotionless thousand year old Pyte to a protective and nurturing caregiver when she was a child. As she grew into a woman he began to push her away in an attempt to resist his desire for her. It was fun, sexy and laugh out loud funny. I found it difficult to put down after I started reading it. The only negative I can think of--now I have to wait for the next book in the series.

Umm... Another Interesting book but not when compared to tall, dark and lonely. Am reading some of her non-pyte books next and hope I found the extra ordinary beauty in her writing as I did in Ephraim and Madison's story. Well done Mathewson!

Loved it! Love how quick Caine realized that Danni was his mate & decided to step up to plate. Almost had a heart attack a few times throughout the book. Ultra glad that Chris made up for being a jerk to his Munchkin. I really wanted to kick him in his book! Enjoyed "seeing" Ephraim & Madison again. Feel bad that Jill keeps getting the short end of the stick!! >:( The end of the book kinda made me make panic a little bit. Lol. Can't wait till the next book! :)
