In November 2011, at the age of twenty-six, I quit my job and bought a one-way ticket to Bangkok. This book chronicles the three months that immediately followed that decision.
The 2012 End Of The World Tour is my attempt to explore the story behind the legions of young Americans, Canadians, Australians and Europeans who have chosen to flee the adult responsibilities of their home countries, and meander from city to beach to temple in Southeast Asia, always one jump ahead of young adulthood. The specters of duty and purpose doggedly pursue them, as they pursue me. And so we flee.
This is our story.
