After surviving drug addiction, Troy Sheppard has published several books about his experiences. The first, "All In My Head", deals with the desperation of drug addiction and is written from his personal experience and struggle with chemical dependence. While keeping a very accurate portrayal of the desperate acts that addiction brings, he also conveys a very real hope that no matter how bad you think you've become, you always have the choice to change what you will become.
His second book, "Idiosyncrasy", is a modern classic that is truly unique and immensely powerful. It tells the story of a lonely and confused teenager who finds solace in surviving intentional drug overdoses. Eventually he sucumbs to the deadly practice and finds himself horribly helpless in an irreversible coma. He is completely aware but unable to communicate with the outside world. Facing certain death when his family decides to pull the plug, he slowly accepts his lonely fate and goes through a beautiful transformation that makes the book a tragic but poetic muse on drug addiction and suicide.
