An overweight young man discovers a strange book on fitness training in a very special bookshop.
Freddy Coffey, badly overweight all his life, bullied and friendless apart from Winnie, another overweight survivor of secondary school life, can't take the oppressive boredom of his suburban home one Saturday and goes for a walk.
His walk takes him much further than he might imagine, and upon discovering he is lost, he comes across a bookstore tucked away in a quiet, unfamiliar street.
