Short description

Attending public school for the first time, Rika meets Jason, her sarcastic, egotistical history teacher. He’s one of the few people that refuses to put up with her spoiled-brat attitude and they quickly grow to hate each other. Yet as they’re constantly forced into each other’s company, their relationship begins to grow into something it shouldn’t; a secret bordering on inappropriate.

Extended description

Adopted as a child, Rika has struggled in vain to earn her family’s approval, but nothing can overcome her dirty blood, so in a desperate attempt to escape, she convinces her cold, unemotional older brother to grant her one year away from her prestigious private academies; one year in public school.
One year to start her entire life.
Once there, she meets Jason Keinishi, her blunt, sardonic World History teacher. Unlike most, he isn’t the type to be impressed with her status or put up with her spoiled-brat attitude. Instead, he seems to go out of his way to aggravate her, a fact that starts between them a hatred neither one is apt to abandon. Yet despite this mutual dislike for one another, they find themselves constantly within each other’s company and soon a somewhat sadistic friendship forms between them. Coming to understand each other, they realize the feelings that have sprung up since they’d originally met border on inappropriate. They continue to push the envelope h.. (Read more)

I first read this book in Fictionpress. When I got to the end of the last chapter and found out that there weren't any other stories under your profile, I almost went into a panic thinking that I'll be left in a cliffhanger forever. But, here I am! So excited to read the following installments! You're an awesome writer. Everything from the characters, the flow, the logic to the technicalities of writing - all are wonderfully written =)

It was an interested read. Loved the characters, especially Jason. It would be interesting to see how the characters develop in the 2nd book and to unravel Jason's family secrets.

I always like your writing, no doubt about it, I know in whatever story you will write in the future, you will always pull all of us (your loyal fans) back and glue us to your book. I don't mind reading your story all over again from the start, I really enjoy reading the relationship between rika and jason and I am so anxious for the next story. Good luck and....fighting!

I've loved this story for a while, and I must have read it over and over again. I still can't get over how brilliantly the emotions are portrayed and how well this piece is written. I really cannot wait for the sequels and I hope everything goes well for this brilliant author!

When you spend an all nighter reading a book that you have already read, yet still can't put down, then you know that that is one fantastic book. The characters are well developed, the interactions and dialogues witty and funny, the story fast paced with enough meat and juice, yet cohesive that you don't drown out the major plot... for short, Caution Tape is a must read.
Fan girl mode: loooovvvvveeeeee the charcters, the story the plot... and S. Kay Lanphear is now in my list of authors to watch out for, along with n. roberts, j. mcnaught etc.

I FIGURED OUT HOW TO REVIEW.
Love the book, I especially enjoyed nearly every interaction they had with each other as I was never sure what to expect, it could be funny or sickeningly sweet to infuriating in a rapid sequence and that kept me entertained.

I loved this book. S. Kay Lanphear is a great up-coming writer. I first read this story as a free on-line fiction and I would definitely purchase other works by this author! I can't wait to see how the story turns out.

Once i read the book, i couldn't stop until i finished, and and reread my favorite parts after i finished the book for the third time. It's just amazing like that. The likeable characters, the natural interactions between them, the slowly building romance, and many else made me attached to the book. The plot's simple, but not at all cheap or boring, far from it.

This is a great tale of taboo/forbidden love between teacher and student. The characters are very well developed and written. I love how Jason and Rika evolve through the story along with their feelings for each other. I appreciate the fact that their feelings went from hate, like, something deeper over the course of the first book. The ending left me in anticipation to start reading book two. Caution Tape is a great story that leaves the reader wondering what will happen next. Can't wait to read the sequels!

You still have to watch out for grammatical errors as I was able to spot a few "you're" and other tiny mistakes but overall they didn't damper my experience. I love this amazing series and I'm more than eager for the next installment.

Amazing! Even better than the hype! I came here from FF.net and I have to say the only thing I was disappointed about was the story ended too soon! So I really hope you get Road Signs and Double Parked out as soon as you possibly can! I love how the dynamic between Rika and Jason is well developed and not rushed, but at the same time I can't help screaming in my head "KISS HER/HIM!". Absolute love for this story, I'd recommend it to anyone to read - it just sucks you in! Definitely worth the 5 stars!

I don't think I've ever read something as good as that, aside from the Hunger Games trilogy. Yet another trilogy I have to read, I can't wait for Road Signs and Double Parked to come out! I couldn't stop reading, and I 'purchased' the book just last night! I lost sleep over reading this, but it was worth it. Write on!
