Short description

A terrible shadow is cast over an isolated village in Northern England, following the discovery of a strange book under the floorboards of a shop...

Extended description

Returning from the big city to Tarkett, the dusty and dreary Northern English mountain village she worked so hard to escape from, Harriet discovers two things; that her beloved, widowed, wheelchair-bound father is not coping well with retirement, and that timid old Nora Coulcher is still suffering at the hands of her monstrous husband, Frank.

Then the discovery of a crudely-made book beneath the floorboards of Nora and Frank's shop changes everything.

Distracted pleasantly for a while by the arrival of a handsome friend from her youth, it soon still becomes clear to the city-smart Harriet that there is now something more than a man walking the dark, windswept hills around Tarkett.
