This is a lovely story about a girl who wants to escape the life expected of her and go on rides and adventures instead. The feisty female protagonist in this tale is loveable and believable. The supernatural world that she enters feels familiar but original at the same time, which is perfect. Children would love to hear this story, especially of the little dragon. The only downside to the story is that many passages are quite drawn out, making me want to skip bits to get to the action. I very much enjoyed it nonetheless, and with a bit of an edit to speed up the pace, this would be a fantastic read.

This is a delightful story that reminds me of fairy tales from long ago. A lost art rediscovered by Sophia DeLuna. If you want to return to your childhood when you would spend a summer afternoon reading a sweet fantasy story then I encourage you to purchase One Upon a Dragon. I don't know if this is listed under a children's genre, but it would certainly be appropriate for children as there are lessons to be learned about loyalty, love and self-identity.
