Short description

The future is not the wonderful place we believe from TV and the movies. It is a harsh reality, we created from greed, ignorance and bigotry. War has decimated the population and turned people into hateful monsters. Tex Collins is desperate man in desperate times. The earth has collapsed under the strain of multiple nuclear attacks and the last bastion of civilisation is a city of concrete.

Extended description

The Red Book is not the feel-good future of flying cars and robots, rather it is the stark reality of warfare, greed ignorance and bigotry. The Red Book was first published in 2004, with a print run of about 1,000 copies. These have all been sold, copies can still be found on Ebay. The book has created a cult status with its Orwell inspired future, where people become slaves to their emotions and fears. Quite a violent and disturbing novel, which creates discussion from both sides of the political divide. This is a very complex and uncomfortable story.

I read this book in a couple of days. The writing is almost painful at times. The descriptive narrative is quite harrowing and may need several reads to fully comphrehend. It is a extraordinary piece of writing that seems to cut deep into the human condition. It may be set in the future, but you get the feeling the content could be just around the corner. Worth a read.
