Extended description

The corpse was heavy. Significantly heavier than you would expect. That was the main problem, thought Bruce, but it certainly wasn’t the only one. The fact that there was a corpse at all was an issue in itself.

The driving Melbourne rain fell with increasing determination as the two men navigated their way through the back lanes of Coburg. Bruce’s affection for his younger son — never particularly marked — was deteriorating rapidly...

“For crying out loud, Timmy!” Bruce cried as Timmy lost his grip yet again, the body dropping out of his trembling hands as a frenzy of barking exploded from behind a back fence. “If you can shoot him, you can fucking carry him!”
The evening was not going well.

Five stars for a five star book. These stories all have wicked little twists at the end that keep you guessing. Excellent production quality makes it a good buy.

I'm very newly getting back into short story writing again, and found this book fantastic- the stories are written in a lovely tight structure and cover a range of topics, with some lovely twists!

I very much enjoyed the title story, "Tainted Innocence" by Sharon Haste. It is clever, disturbing and thoughtful, but the story that made this collection for me was "I Hear Them" by Beverley Lello. What a stylish, thought-provoking and clever piece. I love stories with a twist in the tail and this anthology is just spot on. I can't wait to read more.

Five stars. I can't fault this book of clever, witty and sometimes exasperating short stories — all with a twist. 'Tainted Innocence' - the cover story is excellent with a most surprising end. 'The Bullet' is innovative and edgy. A terrific anthology. Great layout and no typos, which is practically a first for these Smashwords books.
