Since the age of eleven, Mark has been guided by a voice in his head. In the past it has always helped and protected him. Without the Voice, Mark could have never survived the years of abuse he endured at the hands of his alcoholic foster father Max Thompson.

When Mark came to live with Megan and her family, the Voice was no longer present all the time. Especially after Megan became his lover. No, with Mark's life getting better by the day the Voice was no longer needed and stayed lurking in the attic Mark has constructed in his mind to contain the painful memories of his past.

But now that Megan has succumbed completely to cocaine and alcohol, and has been vanishing for months at a time, Mark finds the Voice is back to help him get through. All is well until one day while shooting pool Mark encounters Max Thompson.

Now completely under the influence of the blood thirsty Voice, Mark lures Max back to his apartment where he plans on teaching Max the principal of Lex Talionis, an eye for an eye.

Years ago, Max almost killed Mark, and in the interim he has suffered from horrific nightmares and flashbacks. Max has caused Mark a lot of pain over the years and The Voice plans on making him pay for every bit of it.
