Just a few minutes is all it takes to read the new Quick Reads: The Librarian’s Tale by Ed Rehkopf. The setting is a small Maine town where an older couple go to spend a quiet summer vacation at a bed and breakfast. Kathleen wants to spend some of her time searching in local shops for antiques, while Tom prefers to spend his reading novels. And it is in one of the books that he checks out from the public library that he discovers another kind of story for the reader. The basic elements of The Librarian’s Tale—a relaxed setting, easygoing characters, and a long unsolved mystery—are presented with skill and talent by Rehkopf, the author of several other Quick Reads books.
