Lori R. Lopez wears many hats, literally and otherwise. She is an artist who designs her book covers and illustrates some of her tomes. As an author she writes poems, short stories, novels, children's books and songs, as well as a humorous-slash-serious column called "Poetic Reflections" at Fairy Fly Entertainment. She is a musician, actress, filmmaker, tree-hugger and animal-lover. A vegetarian, her work often contains themes of conservation, animal rights, and the rights of children. Lori unapologetically takes pride in creatively bending and reshaping the rules of writing when it suits her style.
A horror fan since small, she roamed graveyards as a kid and conducted funerals for dead birds, squirrels, insects and spiders. Lori has received various honors for her novels THE FAIRY FLY and AN ILL WIND BLOWS. She was named on an Examiner.com list of "92 HORROR AUTHORS YOU NEED TO READ RIGHT NOW" for WOMEN IN HORROR MONTH 2014. Her books also include CHOCOLATE-COVERED EYES, THE MACABRE MIND OF LORI R. LOPEZ, OUT-OF-MIND EXPERIENCES, DANCE OF THE CHUPACABRAS, POETIC REFLECTIONS I and II: KEEP THE HEART OF A CHILD and THE QUEEN OF HATS; THE MUDPUPPY and THE FOX TROT (based on childhood experiences).
Her stories and verse, featured in THE SIRENS CALL E-ZINE, on HELLNOTES.COM, and at SERVANTE OF DARKNESS, have been published in anthologies such as DEAD HARVEST, JOURNALS OF HORROR: FOUND FICTION, TERROR TRAIN, CURSED CURIOSITIES, WE ARE DUST AND SHADOWS, BONES II, MIRAGES: TALES FROM AUTHORS OF THE MACABRE, MASTERS OF HORROR: DAMNED IF YOU DON'T, DARLINGS OF DECAY, I BELIEVE IN WEREWOLVES, THE EPOCALYPSE: EMAILS AT THE END, SOUP OF SOULS, THIRSTY ARE THE DAMNED, and SCARE PACKAGE: 14 TALES OF TERROR. Fifteen of Lori's poems were published for an anthology titled IN DARKNESS WE PLAY.

Oh Wow!! What a concept. This short is filled with bravery, cowardice, love, depravity, and generosity. This is a story about the ending of an old way of life and the beginning of something new and vital. I love the way Lori Lopez has blended an old concept with a new way of looking at were-people. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves werewolves and zombies.

A little bit of horror + a little bit of paranormal + a little bit of romance = another excellent short story from the mind of Lori Lopez!
I have to be honest, short stories are not usually my "thing". I like developed characters and well-explained plots, and most shorts just can't carry that off.
Then, I discovered Ms. Lopez's stories. She has full-length novels that are amazing, but her shorter tales are equally well-done. With her gift for words, she deftly makes you aquainted with her characters by telling you what you want and need to know in order to make you care about them. She makes you think of questions as you're reading, and then succinctly gives you the answers to those questions.
The Lycaning holds true to this style. You'll find yourself rooting for the main characters. You'll fear the worst, and then comes the twist...

I will be the first to admit, and I have many times, I am not a werewolf fan. This story changed that.believe me, this is not the usual werewolf tale. Lori takes this age old monster and makes it her own in the best of ways.
Weather a werefan or not you will enjoy the new twist this storyteller has put to paper for our enjoyment. I don't want to give anything away but you will find a bit of love between these e -pages.
