Short description

When his sister vanishes on her way to school her brother Henry, a detective in the Santa Monica police, dedicates himself to the task of looking for her and any other missing persons, and becomes renowed as such. Although five years had elapsed since Amy had vanished without a trace, he never gives up hope of finding her. Then, on another daily computer search, Amy's face appears on the screen.

Extended description

Henry quickly calls a friend of his in the Bakersfield police, where he had found Jane Doe #48, and asks him for details about her. He finds out that she was discovered in the back of a large trailer when the truck driver checked his load--nearly dead from loss of blood due to an amputated hand, about five months pregnant, and suffering from total amnesia.
He immediately drives over to Bakersfield to verify that Jane Doe is truly Amy, and finds out that he was right and that she is his sister. Amy does not recognize Henry at first, but once she does she tells him a horrific story of having served as a baby breeding mare.
Using Amy's details and descriptions, Henry and the crew he assembles are able to trace the reprehensible criminals and bring them to justice.
