Let's just say I am over 50, male, love wine, but wish I knew more about what I was drinking. Not so much for the education as for the idea that I feel if I knew more I'd find better wines at more reasonable prices.

The author, Lynn Hoffman, is a obviously a smart and educated man, but he doesn't use his knowledge to show off or try to impress you. It feels more like he is standing by your shoulder in the liquor store helping you make smart decisions.

I keep my copy in the car for quick reference before I go into the store.

And I also must add that the book is easy to read, doesn't rely on jargon, and is even funny at times.

Pure pleasure to read and valuable to own.

I've already made some smart choices that have more than made up for the cost of this book. You might say it paid for itself in savings. I'm one of those dopes who judged wine by either label or price.

I highly recommend it.
