I've never been into YA books or dystopian books and here i am completely sucked into a YA dystopian vampire story!
This is book 2 in The Captive Series and after leaving us on a cliffie, we find out what has happened to Braith and Arianna. It's been 2 months since Arianna fled the palace and I couldn't wait for the two of them to see each other again. Braith thought he had her all figured out, but I loved the way she threw his fiancee in his face. She figures, why not, he's going to kill me anyway. But then something completely different happens...
It's one of those romances that truly has no hope of working out, but you can't help but root for them. He's the heir apparent to the King of the Vampires. She's the daughter of the leader of the human rebels. He's the top of the food chain. She IS the food chain. Now that the world building has been done in Book 1, Ms. Stevens has time to twist the plot and set up book 3. We also get the backstory on both Arianna's and Braith's families. They have more in common than one would have thought and it turns out, a common enemy. War is what turned the world into what it is now and sadly it looks like war is the only way anything will ever change.

This is an excellent series with characters that jump off the page. A thoroughly good read. Can't wait to read the next instalment of the series.

So Aria is finally free of the palace, but is she really free? Her heart still seems to belong to Braith, and she begins to hate him for the way he's made her feel. She wants to like Max, but she can't, and no one seems to believe the fact that she even really loved Braith. They're convinced her mind has been messed up and twisted into believign the impossible. Then, (as you read in the description) their safehold is raided and everyone is scattered. It's then that she sees Braith again, only he's not there to recapture her, he's there to kill her for the pain she caused him. Of course, everything in love is always a misunderstanding, and soon they're back to being forbidden, hidden lovers again, sharing blood and all that. Kissing and holding and trying not to,let go of the bond they share again. It's kind of like the excessive attachment that was formed between Edwad and Bella after New Moon, it was like they couldnt be apart. It's here that we begin to see that they're not just in love, they're drowning in it. It's both their strength and their weakness. Its passinate and blinding and all consuming. Soon they both must do things they dont want to do in order to hold on to the love they can't quite have.
I loved this book just as much as I loved Captured. I cant wait to see what happens next. I love love stories (yea I'm a big softy) and I hope to see that it prevails. 4.5 Stars!

You need to publish the final book in the Captive series. Please and please. Its amazing!!! I was frantically searching for a way to contact you and tell you this, then I realised I could just leave a comment. Please and please would you be able to publish it on smashwords today? Enough about the please, about the actual book...the love between aria and braith is touching and sweet. In the face of adversity and impossibility they are still trying to find a way. I really want to know how it ends.
