The author of this book, Phil Cioppa, is a pragmatist and every person economist. He does not hold himself out to be a Wharton School of Business graduate or the sole expert on any subject. Instead, he sees himself as a person who stays informed and educated on the issues and observes how they impact his and his family’s life. We know, for instance, that anyone can tell why the price of gas is affecting each person, but do we know why the possible Greek and Spanish default on their loans could be as equally dramatic for each of us? The world has become a very small experience and Phil maintains that it is this interdependence and awareness that he is called to bring to the attention of his reading and listening public. Each week, Phil hosts “The Phil Cioppa Show, syndicated into over 140 markets via Cable Radio Network, BusinessTalk Radio Network and Radio Linx. This book is another effort on Phil’s part to attempt to keep the American public abreast of the issues that face a world in crisis. He does not see the economic sphere improving. Instead, he sees a decline in the economic situation globally, yet has confidence that the correct leadership will emerge to address these issues as at other times in history. Whether the leaders we need are already in place is yet to be seen according to Phil. There is no way of knowing the greatness of a person until the historical moment of opportunity presents itself. However, greatness lies in each person, and it is this guiding principle with which Phil writes these reflections.
