About Paulette Miller

Paulette is the author of the Blue Fire series.

I live in central Illinois with my husband, two children, and many pets. With my dog George at my feet, a replica weapon collection and dragon statues around me for inspiration, I'm attempting to combine my own drawings with words to paint the fantasy world of Lagrangia.

Why would a 'full-time worker by day' and 'want-to-be artist by night' write a book series? I have absolutely no idea, but I do believe that everything happens for a reason and, therefore, my insane drive to expose myself to the writing world must also serve a purpose. Only time will tell.

So...if you want to read a simple story about the power of love and friendship written by just an ordinary, average person, give Blue Fire a try. The series won't win any literary awards but, if it helps just one person escape for a few minutes from whatever is troubling them, I'll consider myself a success.

I'm reviewing first 3 books here. The first book is a 5 star, can't put down, fall in love, page turner! Wonderful characters, places - it's all here. Then comes the 2nd book. What a let down. Ever buy a jar of mixed nuts that was 80% peanuts? Yep. I spent most of my time looking for the story, wading through the pages and pages of smut. The 3rd book is a little better. Maybe 50% peanuts, but still, Ms Miller relies too heavily on the sensual to fill her pages when I'm wanting the Story. Took me a short time to skim past the sex and enjoy the few nuggets of Story. I genuinely like the lead characters and they aren't treated with dignity. I'm expecting the 4th book to end up as a pure romance novel: Does Nathaniel love Tianna, oh, I don't know, maybe more endless sex will help. If only this series would return to the beginning which showed so much promise! I haven't decided if I'll buy the 4th book as I am so disenchanted with especially the 2nd, and somewhat disappointed in the 3rd, I hate wading through the smut.

Excellent, fun and romantic adventure story! The setting and characters are memorable (can I move there?) and this book strikes a great balance between tension, humor, and action. Unlike most romance novels, these characters are believable and likeable. By the end of the book, you care about all of them and are eager to learn more. Perhaps more importantly, you understand why they feel the way they do. Great book, highly recommended!
