This is an unusual short story because it's not really a short story it's like a guide book or a set of intructions for alien soldiers to follow. The opening paragraphs are quite dry and have that feel of trying to be funny and that the author is laughing more than his readers are. Once past that introduction it soon starts making sense. I've started on Once Upon a Time Ferret and while it's good so far it has the same flaw. I'm not sure if flaw is the right word, but in OUTF the first chapter is dry and has the same feeling of the author having a secret joke. But that's what he's doing and it's deliberate I guess because again, once past that first section it all clicks and it's cool :)

This is super-dry humor and I like the format of this, it's so easy on the eyes - there are no big chunks of text and it's brief and to the point, which is great if these alien soldiers are supposed to memorize it!

I want a pet flying shark!
