Short description

When Lauren Mitchell turns an old friend into a new lover, she discovers the shocking manipulations and omissions of her ex-husband, the man she once thought she could trust most. Ex Army Ranger Graham Young’s reappearance tests loyalties and unearths the long-buried secrets of both men, leaving Lauren wondering if anything in her life has been real.

Extended description

Being a single mother at the age of thirty-six was never on Lauren Mitchell's things-to-do list. Struggling to maintain her status on the mommy track, she fights the good fight with her libido, and avoids fights at all costs with her ex-husband. Then Lauren and her ex-husband's closest friend, Graham Young, returns to their hometown. His reintroduction into their lives tests loyalties and unearths long-buried secrets that leave Lauren wondering if anything in her life has been real. And just when Graham proves he is so much more than a summer lover, life throws Lauren a medical crisis with her child, an angry and still possessive ex-husband, and a handful of twenty-year-old unsent love letters.

I loved this new book by Nicole, but then I expected to. I've been a fan of hers for a while, and know that I enjoy her writing style and ability to relate a good story.

I really liked Lauren, she was a fully developed mature character and I was cheering her on at each step.

I loved Graham (and admit that my brain kept substituting Ranger for his name. and couldn't be convinced otherwise).

Aiden was a believable character, and although I didn't really like him, I didn't hate him,, either. I loved that he was close to and attentive to his son. (I didn't try to substitute any names there -- none fit).

The plot developed realistically, as did Graham and Lauren's relationship. How sad that they had to lose 20 years, due to Aiden's childish act.

Well done. When's the next book?

Great job Nicole! This book was so much fun to read. It had a great mix of romance, humor and a drama to make it a fun read. I loved all your "Plumisms" thrown in throughout the book. You can't leave all the "Babes'" favorite man in black out of great story. The characters in this book were likeable and someone you could relate to in real life. And Nicole, has a great sense of humor that kept me giggling throughout the book. Can't wait for her next book!

This was a fun read that kept me up way later than I intended. I enjoyed getting to know the characters and their stories. Love that Lauren wasn't portrayed as a scorned ex-wife and could keep a working relationship with Aiden. I'm looking forward to Laurent's next book.

A well written romance that kept me spellbound on a 4.5 hour plane ride. The storyline had plenty of twists and turns that never fell into cliches or sappiness. I really enjoyed this book and am looking forward to your next novel. :)

Loved this book! I couldn't put it down until I finished it. The story flows well and has all the elements that makes a great read, with the right combination of romantic tension, drama, character development and steamy love scenes. Anxiously awaiting the next hot story from Nicole, who never disappoints her readers!

I enjoyed this book very much. The main male character is very romantic and the love scenes are very steamy! The situations are authentic and believable so everyone can relate to both the female and male viewponts. Nicole did an outstanding job of creating the sexual tension between Lauren and Graham. I was breathless by the time their first love scene happened and swooning by the time it finished. I look forward to more from the very talented Nicole.

It's always a real treat to find a book that I just can't seem to put down. This was one of them. I enjoyed Nicole's first book, Underground, so it was no surprise that I thoroughly enjoyed this one too. Nicole is not just a writer, she is a master storyteller and an amazing artist with words. She created loveable characters, except the ex-husband who I'm sure everyone will want to kick in the groin. The story had the right amount of humor, romance, and angst, and the pacing was perfect. I also love hearing a story from both the viewpoints of the 2 lead characters. It seems to give even more depth to the story. I absolutely loved this book. I hope to see more from Nicole. If you are looking for a great romance story, I highly recommend this one.

Nicole does another outstanding job of telling a wonderful story. I laughed, I cried, I got angry, and then I was happy and that's a sign of a great author when they make you feel all of those things for the characters. Lauren, Graham and Aiden could be your friend or neighbor, they're people I know. When I was done I wanted to cry all over again because it was over. I guess I'll just have to go back and read it again.
