The other side of him surged forward in his mind, and he staggered on his feet, reeling with the sudden onslaught. He reached out to support himself and caught his hand around one of the chains from which Sophia hung. Looking up, he saw a gleaming of terror pass over her eyes before she jerked the chain away, sending him sprawling to the floor.

Ethan fell to his hands, feeling the other part of him surge through to gain full control of his body. As Sophia tossed her hair back above him, Ethan struggled to remember that this was what she wanted, and he let the dark side of him take over. In a haze, he saw Sophia click the cover over the top of the remote and toss it into the darkness of one of the lab’s corners.
