Evelyn watched him look at her and grabbed the neckline of her blouse, closing it even though it would not do up any tighter. She felt heat rise to face. It was a long time since a man looked at her this way. And as crass as he was, his deep voice and hungry desire stirred something in her.
“Listen, Mac. It’s been a long day and it just doesn’t seem to be getting any better. I haven’t had the best interactions with people lately, and I’m really tired. If you find me rude, believe me, I’m holding myself back.”
Mac looked at her with empathy. “I understand, Miss. The media hasn’t been nice to you at all lately.”
“No, Mac, they haven’t been. It seems like it’s been a long time since anyone has been nice to me. And I’ve been re-elected as mayor and am expected to give an inaugural speech tomorrow. I’m just not in the mood. Maybe if my constituents were a bit nicer to me, I’d be a little more cheery now.”
She looked at Mac, realizing what she just said seemed to be a childish cry for positive attention. Mac picked up on this immediately.
“I’m one of your constituents, Ma’am.”
“Well, I suppose you are.” She turned a bit red at the implication.
“I can be nice to you, Miss Evelyn. If you let me, that is.”
Evelyn took a deep breath. She took in Mac’s gaze again. Her mind flashed to the brief encounter where he offered her his hand, and now she marveled at the dark contrast of his skin against hers as he had held her. Looking at him now, she wondered what this contrast would be if different parts of their bodies connected together.
She shook the unwanted thoughts out of her head. However, suddenly her body was aware of the textures of all the clothing that was covering her more sensitive areas. She could feel her nipples tighten against the fabric of her bra. Her underwear suddenly engulfed her heat, and she felt herself begin to throb.
“If I, if I let you… what?” She stammered.
Mac lowered his voice and looked around. He knew nobody was near to hear him. There weren’t many nurses other than Kay working this shift. He leaned towards her. “If you let me take you, hold you, and ravish you with some black loving like you’ve only dreamed about before.” Mac raised an eyebrow to see if she was game. He could tell she was turned on, but knew she would never admit it.
"Why, I never!"
"Well maybe you should, it seems after what you've been through with hubby you're owed one. If you don't mind me saying, you need to loosen up a little." Mac now stared at the muscle lubricant he held in his hand. He intended to bring it to a patient's room until the Mayor almost marched right over him.
"Let's just say I do mind. This conversation is now over." Evelyn couldn't keep diverting his innuendos. Her only out was to do just that, leave. She turned her back and continued down the hall.
Evelyn reached the last door at the end of the hallway when Mac finally caught up with her. "Whoa, Miss Evelyn, you dropped something. Hold on." As Evelyn turned Mac had run up on her swiftly, grabbing her arm and diverting her through the storage room door he just opened. He closed the door tightly behind him as he threw her into the room.
Evelyn found herself surrounded by shelving units filled with medical supplies. The shelves covered three walls of the tiny room. In the center lay a small desk with a clipboard and pen, presumably to keep track of the supplies that were leaving the storage area. Her heart was beating furiously with excitement. The thought of being alone with him intensified her level of arousal. This was an opportunity she wanted to take advantage of. An experience that she knew she would never have again, not soon anyways. It had been several months since she had been with her husband, and even then it had seemed like he wasn’t all that keen on being with her. Now, the raw, sexual energy of Mac was exhilarating. She wanted him to keep pursuing her. It was something she had never experienced before.
