Fast-paced, highly original, well-written, and very fun to read. I recommend The Pool to anyone seeking a strange spin on a summer love story!

This is a compelling if disquieting read. Really a cleverly done piece of work.
Using a strong tone, thick characterization, and clarity of setting that people tend to call "literary fiction," the very short novel or very long story uses a plot that's, what? a blend of sci-fi and horror, I guess, to capture what goes on in a romantic relationship.
It's really tough to categorize this story because of the way it's written and the actual plot it follows, but in the end, like most things worth reading/listening to/watching, it's basically a love story.
A pretty grim and haunting one. Heartily recommended.

Creepy and captivating - I love where this story took me - albeit a bit unsettling at times - I ended up in a place I did not expect to be when I started the read. I was thinking about Miles and Auburn and ... that other guy ... for days after I finished it.

A read that seems familiar if you go back to your many summer jobs and then becomes strange and then stranger in a very organic way. It is in the end a fun and romantic story that goes amok..be ready for motherly love to an extreme..not for the timid.
