As students leave their parents to live independent lives in the university, they engage themselves in good, bad, and ugly activities.
Wajuku Ihimbru is the main character who leaves his parents in the grass field to study in the University of Buea. While in Buea, he manages to get a room in the crazy neighborhood of Dirty South which has been nick named ''Sodom and Gomorra'' because of the promiscuous lives of students.
Wajuku is very industrious and enterprising but suffers complexity problems. Though he is very handsome ,he finds a lot of faults in himself. He is so use to the type of life that he gets up every morning and his mom looks food for at all cost for him to eat but life tends out to be very different in the university. His mother was unable to send him food talk less of money. Because of this, Wajuku devised all sorts of methods to survive which he calls Survival Instincts. Brenda is also new in the university. She has gone through a lot of emotional problems. She explains to Wajuku that the biggest problem of any beautiful lady is to make the best choice of the many men coming and going in her life. Some guys come very handsome but with no money, others come with much money but are very ugly while some are not even handsome and not rich but yet show lot of love. Thus, she's always in a dilemma.
Also get to discover in the thrilling story how Wajuku and some of his educated friends came back from school and break the myth and mysticism that characterized the village. The village had a river called the forbidden river and villagers were prohibited from swimming in the river since it was regarded as the home of the gods. It was also belief that the river at its lower end disappeared into thin air in the evil forest but the new generation of youths had to prove this wrong.

The Innocent Ones

The early 1970’s was characterized by respect for tradition and one’s parents. According to the tradition of the Mandy people, it was unthinkable to ignore the orders of a parent or an elderly person. A strong bond existed between parents and children. This provoked the burning desire to protect these children, which sometimes led to grief, hatred and pain in the society. A society characterized by evil thoughts, anxiety and the desire to destroy.
According to the tradition of the people, a child was considered a dependent person, who could not take any sound decision. A child’s age did not matter much when it came to decisions on matters affecting things like marriage.
By the late 1970’s, life had taken a different turn, respect for tradition and decision making on a child’s behalf became a nightmare. This story gives a clue of the 1970’s Mandy society.
The Innocent Ones is the story of a mother who caused her only daughter so much pain in a bid to protect her from what she considered bad families. She practically prevents her daughter from being close to her loved ones with the intention of protecting her. This left her daughter with two illegitimate kids. Musa is a herbalist with two wives, Agi (his first wife) and Nina (his second wife). He is inhumane to the kids. He tends to show them love and care only on rare occasions when he is happy. Agi, Musa’s first wife, is kind to the kids. Her love for the kids is so strong that in the event of a conflict of interest between the kids and her husband, the kids’ interest would take precedent.
Nina, Musa’s second wife is a victim of these new changes. But she is indifferent to these new developments. All she wants is to see peace reign in the family. She observes a distant relationship with the kids as a strategy to please her husband and secure the kids’ freedom from her wicked husband.
