My eyeballs were wacky so I wore glasses from childhood until age forty-five. That meant the astronaut gig was out. It had been my dream.
I admire how James Bond can walk into any situation and have more than just a firm grasp of what was happening. That desire for mastery has driven me to explore places, activities, skills, and experiences. Where I cannot go, I study. But I'm no Bond.
So why did I sit down to write a book? Simple! There wasn't a book to tell me about Kosovo. I had to learn about the region on my own. After leaving, I figured people might be curious about the place as it was just recently, on the ground, through the eyes (and shoes) of an American. Besides, writing a book would make my parents proud and give my daughter something to improve upon. It was something I felt the need to accomplish.
I also like to teach.
Okay, nothing more to see here. Move along.
