"Sometimes you just gotta prime the pump. Does Tiffany really gotta know you started by yourself? For all she knows you were thinkin’ of her and it just happened.”

I laughed. “Yeah, like she’ll buy that.”
But maybe he had a point. I had to get her to come back tonight or she might not come back at all. I had to show her I still wanted to screw her. And if I could push her up against the wall and start right up as soon as she walked through the door, she wouldn’t have much room to doubt.

Maybe he wasn’t related by blood, but he was my father in every other way. And aside from a few stray thoughts I’d never told anybody about, I wasn’t into guys.

“Well I don’t… I mean if you were anybody else, maybe I could help out.”

Anybody else. Not his son. Though somehow it didn’t seem to bother me. Some little spark of excitement even coiled in the pit of my stomach. There was so much wrong with this; even just talking about it was wrong. But I couldn’t lose Tiffany. And I was curious about what it was like to be touched buy a guy. No, not a guy. My Dad.

“What if I was just Ryan. And you were just Chris. And I was… asking for your help to keep my girlfriend.”

If it was Mom I could exploit the grandbaby angle. But if it was Mom there’s no way we’d even be having this conversation. And talking about having his grandkids didn’t seem a super idea when I was asking for something like this.

“I dunno, Ry. I mean I’d hate to see somethin’ happen with you and Tiffany…” I could see a bit of a blush coloring his tanned cheeks. For somebody who’d done it for a paycheck he was awfully shy about the prospect.

“I’ll help you patch up the barn. Next weekend.” I knew it was cheap, but I didn’t really care. I’d made up my mind and I was willing to do whatever it was going to take to make him agree.

“This weekend,” he leveraged, finally meeting my gaze. “And the fence, too.”

Ugh. That fence was going to be a complete pain in the ass. And I already had plans with Tiff for the weekend. Then again, if this didn’t go the way I hoped it would, that might not matter anyway.

I slowly extended my hand, looking him square in the eye. “Deal,” I said, and he clasped it, giving a firm grip and a strong shake.
