Lorraine Sears has always been blessed with a fertile imagination. As a young child, unable to control how far she strayed within the boundaries of her own mind, she often scared herself seeing
faces in the curtains that hung in her bedroom. Then, as a teenager, many local people feared for her sanity, when she was regularly witnessed talking to herself when out walking her dog. What they didn't know is that in her mind Lorraine was in fact a hardened New York
detective out stalking criminals with her weapon stashed safely in the waistband of her jeans. Reports would later confirm this weapon to be
a harmless, empty water pistol.
Now in her mid-thirties, but trying to fight the relentless tide of aging Lorraine tries to portray herself as responsible married mother
of two to all but those who know her best. Her imagination is still her driving force, and through the years she has formed a strong bond
with it, and now it works for her as opposed to against her; the many notebooks littering her home are a testament to this long and often
Finding opportunities to share her thoughts when and wherever she can, Lorraine writes a 'Wellbeing?' magazine for her employer, which is
deployed to the 30,000 strong staff population in the UK. And she enjoys sharing her thoughts on books, film and music on Amazon.
But it's in her spare time, when the children are in bed and the house is quiet that Lorraine feels she can let her true passion for creative
writing take over. And since the birth of her daughter in 2003 she has been living with an ever increasing number of characters in her head,
all demanding their stories be heard.
Since joining Hothouse, a focused, on-line writing group, Lorraine has been pushing her brain extra hard to create her fiction and the toil has paid off.
