Short description

Atlanta Bones is a hard-edged Florida thriller relieved by humor and spiced with exotic locations. In the best-selling tradition of John D. MacDonald, Carl Hiassen, and Randy Wayne White, it rips through a plot involving a rich man who is presumed dead, his not-so-grieving widow, and a reluctant, tough adventurer.

Extended description

A missing husband. A widow grieving--for lost cash. A reluctant adventurer pulled into the puzzle. Twists and turns and violent, ugly death. Atlanta Bones is a Florida thriller with hard-edged action, exotic locales, colorful characters, and a twist of wit, served very dry. Jim Dallas is an independent investigator in the mode of Travis McGee, and Atlanta Bones has a flavor reminiscent of John D. MacDonald, Carl Hiassen, and Randy Wayne White.

Atlanta Bones is a gripping, gritty, down in the muck mystery. Jim Dallas is a compelling character, an ex-cop with a tragedy in his past who takes on a case with too many loose ends. Author Ken McKea clearly knows the Florida Keys, where much of the action takes place, and makes you feel the sweat as Dallas keeps tugging at those threads he should probably leave alone. Every character has an angle, and when you think you know what's up -- that's exactly when the truth slugs you from behind! An excellent, entertaining tale.

Great protagonist with an intriguing backstory still to come. There are lots of twists and turns to this murder mystery along with boats, explosions, a beautiful woman, an inheritance, mayhem of all sorts, and wonderful descriptions of Florida coastal areas.
