I was born and raised in Sissonville, West Virginia. Smack dab in the middle of Appalachia. I spent my childhood roaming the woods and playing in the creek. Eight years ago I moved with my daughter and two dogs to Fort Worth, Texas. There is a little holler up in those West Virginia hills where I left a piece of my redneck heart.

I thoroughly enjoyed Coal Dust. Ms. Noble had me hooked from the first chapter.
I especially enjoyed how the past and present were interwoven in the novel. The reader can see the ancestors of Kati and Harrison and see how it effects their lives in Coal Town today.
I'm from the Appalachian area and appreciated the realistic imagery and language the author used. It reminds me of the ghost stories my grandfather would tell me when I was a child.
Underneath the story is a message of hope and faith that comes through wonderfully. I can't wait to read more from Maxine Noble.
