Elizabeth Love is a wife and mother who loves her daughters dearly but has been trapped in a sexually and physically abusive marriage to her husband, Scott Travers, for the last two decades. Lizzie turns to writing stories for her favorite TV show "Through the Mirror" to escape the trials of her life; her husband, his friend Randy "The Adonis", the crazy clients in the law firm where she works, the bickering amongst her girls and the ever-increasing stack of bills which she lives under.
Michael Gray a/k/a Dennis Johnson of "Through the Mirror" fame has just lost his job. The show has been canceled after 10 years on the air and he is now faced with the unenviable task of looking for work as he tries to break out of the genre of science fiction and being type cast as the 'nerdy geeky doctor'. Basically this is a thriller but the thriller element takes a long time to get going. Once it does, it is good reading. It is frustrating to see the heroine use such poor judgement in dealing with her jerk of a husband but then real women put up with abusive husbands too.

You know, I didn't dislike it or like it. However, I was left lukewarm. My biggest problem was why she stayed in the marriage? Allow herself to be misused. The drug use. I didn't get it. And a number of other things. I was let down after reading The Heart of War which has earned its place in oneof my top five books evah.

This is an AMAZING love story and AWESOME thriller! I couldn't put it down! It is written so well and the story line is so in depth that it gets into your very soul. It depicts the sacrafices we give for the people we love. Truely an incredible story of a woman who is an amazing person, but because of the people in her life - she has low self esteem and takes whatever is given to her. It is time someone gives back....You won't be sorry with this book. It would truely make a great movie, too. This is my first time reading Darling, but I am going to read her other writings too. I hope she continues with her great immagination and shares with us. Thank you!
