Review by: anne schofield on Jan. 24, 2014 :
I found this book a very easy read. I loved the fact that it described the Gold rush, Family life and all the coming and goings from Melbourne to Ballarat and beyond. I enjoyed reading about the Melbourne Cup and found myself imagining myself there during that period of time. I come from Melbourne and I found myself wanting to looking up all the street and places in the book. Reflecting on the scenes in the book, the author made me imagining that I was present in that period of time. Even though it was a fictional book it appeared to have been written based on fact. Cant wait to read the next installment.
