Carmen Khalise returns to New York for her mother’s funeral. Despite life-long estrangement from her mother and family, Carmen hopes to pay respects and leave the city alive and unscathed. She fends off an accusation that she abandoned her mother, but she doubts her own motives for staying away. At the funeral, she re-connects with her former college sweetheart who seeks Carmen’s forgiveness for breaking her heart thirty years earlier. Carmen’s heart is in jeopardy once again as family and romantic betrayals multiply.
