Shannon Medisky seeks to encourage and empower children to be instigators of positive change both in themselves and the world around them. Through the use of art, open-ended prompts and creative activities, Shannon engages young audiences with science in brand new ways and challenges kids to take an entirely new approach to mistakes, too.
A former educator, Shannon has experience teaching children ranging in age from preschool to the 8th grade. Before entering the classroom, she worked as a graphic designer and webmaster. Shannon earned a double BA in Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education (magna cum laude) from Central Washington University and has completed postgraduate coursework in the visual arts, teaching mathematics and instructional design.
Shannon's articles have been featured in Exceptional Parents, Adoptive Families, Hybrid Mom, Mothering and Focus on the Family’s Thriving Family.
She lives in Kent, Washington with her husband, Jason, and their two high-spirited boys, Nate and Mark, and a menagerie of furry friends including 3 cats, a dog and a hamster.
