I'm afraid I have found each of these by Joshua Graham to be nothing more than a lot of self-promotion. My husband attempted to read them also. Neither of us ever got past the first chapter. I rate it a 1 only so it shows up on the Ratings Radar. No ratings don't seem to count in the scheme of things.

The first 5% of this is endorsements for Graham. The next 8,000 words are the short story. The storyline is fair until the end. The author expects us to believe a package of C4 explosives small enough to be carried in a man's breast pocket without being detected will blow up a very large yacht and kill all the people on board. And not harm the good guy in the water 30 feet away. Editing is good, not perfect, but the super hero main character is not one I could relate too.
The remaining portion is an exert from another of his books. This is a marketing ploy; too bad the short story isn't good enough to cause me read more by the writer. I did read one of his other stories and thought it was bad also.

Story is good, but the writing style if more appropriate for long-from novella or novel.

A good story, but not earth shatteringly so. Much more enjoyable than some of the others from this author.

Each book that I read of Joshua Graham's, I say this is the best, so here I am saying this was his best. I just wish it wasn't a short story.

Really a great story left me feeling I was not at the end, wanting to read more. Did he get back with his family, were they safe? Did others come after them?

A lot of action for such a short story! Great back story and darkly humorous at times, mournful at others.
